With the contribution of the LIFE programme of the European Union - LIFE17 ENV/GR/000215 and  the co-financing of Green Fund, Greece

University of Thessaly - UTH

University of Thessaly (UTH) participates with the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The proposed research will be mainly supported by the Production Management Lab (PML) and the Systems Optimization Lab (SOL). PML conducts research in transportation and environmental engineering, optimal control and statistics important components for the development of data mining system, database, emission calculation models and optimization algorithms for the green vehicle routing problem. PML has participated in over 16 projects that were funded by European, national and/or private sources including GreenRoute, EnvRouting, FindMyWay, PathWayOpt projects. LIFE GYR team uptakes the results of these projects to implement LIFE GYR project. SOL facilitates applied research in optimization methods for complex logistics and transportation systems. It conducts fundamental research on algorithms for network problems and applied research in areas such as urban traffic network planning, vehicle routing/scheduling and optimization. SOL managed over 14 projects including the EU funded projects EURIKA, GoodRoute and Connected Cities. SOL is actively involved in ongoing projects like REDUCTION which will provide a wealth of data by novel techniques of sensing and data mining to be used for eco-routing of road vehicles.

UTH’s important experience on environmental issues related to transport and optimization ensures the completion of all needs for emission calculation modeling, green vehicle routing problem optimization and the development and integration of LIFE GreenYourRoute web and mobile app. The above experience as well as its involvement in other LIFE project guarantees that UTH could be the key partner concerning the dissemination, monitoring and management of the project.
